Join Bolder Giving on Thursday, October 20th at noon EST for a free teleconference with Charlie Rounds.
Charlie Rounds achieved the dream of many entrepreneurs. After 16 years he sold his share of the successful RSVP Vacations, which focused on gay and lesbian travelers. Charlie and his husband Mark could have decided to keep the money and never have to work again. Instead, they put the entire amount (60% of their net worth) into a donor-advised fund at The Minneapolis Foundation. Their commitment is to give the entire amount out within 15 years to support economic development in local communities of color, international human rights, and GLBT rights. The fund is named The Mark and Charlie Gay Lesbian Fund for Moral Values, so that every gift they make is visible as gay philanthropy. Charlie’s goal is to greatly increase the giving in the gay and lesbian community – in part, by sharing his own story.
